My interest in acupuncture began whilst I was a teenager in South Wales and I first received treatment at the age of 17. After school, I studied at Edinburgh University, graduating in 1987 with a degree in Economics. (MA). My first six years in Aberdeen were spent working in the oil industry. At 28 years of age, I decided to change careers and studied acupuncture at the Northern College of Acupuncture in York, where I received a Diploma with distinction in 1997. (DipAc) I have been in practice since then, working in Inverurie, Ellon, Peterculter and Aberdeen. I have now based my practice solely in Banchory. I have been a full member of the British Acupuncture Council for the duration of my 13 years in practice (MBAcC.)
My experience with Acupuncture
Conditions I
have treated most include back pain, other joint pain,
headaches, digestive disturbances, menstrual and fertility
problems and stress. In practice, acupuncture can be applied to
most aspects of health. Acupuncture treatment can bring quick results for some people, whilst for others the route
to better health can be long and difficult. Sometimes it is
necessary to look at many aspects of a person's life and
lifestyle in order to understand what is aggravating a
particular condition. A willingness to make adjustments to
lifestyle can then be critical in making a recovery to good
health.
I continue to develop my skills by attending post-graduate lectures and courses led by eminent acupuncture teachers.
In addition to acupuncture, I also love gardening, rugby, walking and cycling, food and music.
